1. Opening.
2. Agreement on transcript of last meeting.
-
The transcript of the meeting of the 28th of February 2008 at the SIA in Paris France. The transcript was sent to you the 21st of April by mail.
-
As there was nobody who wanted to comment the transcript this is approved and therefore chairman and secretary sign the transcript.
3. Financial Information.
-
Bas gives an overview of the financial situation of FIERBA. He tells that there is now contact with AUSTRIA and all countries have paid their annual fee for 2008. From Sweden there is no reaction at all so I have sent a letter to inform the Swedish Blonde d’Aquitaine Association to inform them that they are no longer participating FIERBA. If the situation changes they are always welcome to join FIERBA in the future.
-
As everybody can see in the financial overview the situation at this moment is good. We do have to consider that the printing of the stickers will cost about
-
€ 500, 00.
4. Reactions.
5. Identifying animals at shows.
-
Bas presents the sticker as it should identify the animals at national shows in the future. Everybody can agree on this. There are some questions about glue the stickers on the animals. Gerry says the best glue to use is ordinary joiner’s glue (for gluing wood). Lionel remarks that it is the best solution with ordinary glue and that there are now big issues in using glue.
-
Bas asks every body to inform him how many stickers they need and when they should be in the country.
-
Bas will search for the most animal friendly glue and send you the results of the search.
6. Workgroup.
- Everybody received the list of the members. Bas asks Gerry Ernst –who is the beef specialist of CONVIS- if he is willing to participate in the workgroup for Luxembourg. Fortunately he agrees on doing so.
The list of the members is now:

Tasks for the workgroup:
-
The meeting agrees with the proposition for the tasks of the workgroup. So the here below mentioned items are of great importance.
-
Describing of the race.
-
Describing what elements we want to be judged
-
Compose a list of the abnormalities in our race and what are the consequences of these abnormalities.
-
How to organise a European wide system of notating the results of the judging.
-
Investigate the possibility to introduce the system in the countries that are members of FIERBA.
-
Search for help at ICAR, for they already have a lot of information available.
-
Make a time schedule for the workgroup.
-
Try to make a financial overview for the costs that will come.
-
Bas will send relevant information to all members.
7. What comes around?
- Marie-José Bouman: It will be a good idea to investigate the possibility of a European Congress for Beef Cattle.
- Ed Neerincx: We will investigate the interest this.
- Marie-José Bouman: As we have seen yesterday the handling of animals can be improved. There are methods of improving this. It might be an idea to inform on this subject.
- André Bouas: There are people in France who can give instructions in handling cattle. The addresses will be sent to Bas.
- Marie-José Bouman: Is it possible to harmonise inscription fees over Europe?
- Ed Neerincx: It is a good idea, but it will be difficult to achieve this because we do have all different systems. There are countries that have subventions for this item, others work with professional technicians and some countries are working with volunteers.
- Never the less it might be a task for our workgroup as well..
8. Next meeting.
-
After some discussion we agreed on having the next meeting in Holland in the last weekend of November. Bas will send details later this year.
-
Lionel suggests that one of the meetings next year should be planned in September in Spain as Spain will have the first National Show then.
-
Also in 2009 the Danish Herdbook exists 25 years and this will be a reason for visiting their annual event.
10. Closing.
